Dudley Street Neighborhood Initiative is established.

An outgrowth of the Dudley Advisory Group, its purpose is to promote a community-based effort to revitalize the Dudley Street neighborhood. Peter Medoff is its first director. The organization subsequently locates its offices at 504 Dudley Street (550 Dudley Street), releases a masterplan in 1987,* and is designated unprecedented eminent domain powers by the city in 1988.* It goes on to form the Dudley Community Land Trust, develop more than half of the 1,3000 vacant lots on in the area, and build 225 units of housing, along with parks, playgrounds, and a greenhouse.
